art stuff by Khezix

squishymoon:

I think the point flew right over many people’s heads.

Point is, it’s ridiculous to charge that much even, for a small tiny, pixel icon and be rude to people who commission you.

I think what people are actually missing is that a dollar is not very much money at all.

I mean really. Go grab a job in McDonald’s and you can have 7 times that much for working a single hour.

Yet pixel work takes twice the amount at least - not five minutes. I understand these icons are small, but I highly doubt they can be done in under an hour. So she’s getting way under minimum wage, at least compared to where I live.

Sorry for ranting like this (and this rant really isn’t directed at anyone specifically). It’s just that I get frustrated with people who undercharge themselves. Then I get even more frustrated when people bitch about undercharged prices. Honestly, if you can’t afford it, do it yourself (and find out for yourself how difficult art is!)

I’m not going to comment on the snapping part. Honestly, it sounds like “he said/she said” and we all know how that goes. I wasn’t there, so I can’t judge. However, I would like to add that the picture shown isnot detailed at all. It consists of a lineart, flat colors, and odd shininess thrown around. :I

And there’s my two cents. :I

Concepts. :D

The first one looked too much like a pheasant (twas supposed to be a secretary bird/Australian raven mixture) so I went with the pure Australian raven face, and moved the splash of color to the crest.

The top one is the final version, the bottom one is me dicking around with layer modes.

If the scene were supposed to be cloudy and ominous, I think I would have gone with the second one. But I needed bright and cheery, so I went bright and cheery.
